what we believe
Louis I. Kahn’s words excerpted above speak of the earliest significant moment in the creative process. The miraculous moment when out of nothingness the Intangible is given physical expression in the Real World.
The focus of my practice is to carry forward the basic tenets of Modern Architecture: to enhance and improve the built environment through the artful use of transcendent forms to define livable spaces. Unencumbered by extraneous ornament, Modern Architecture is an honest expression of human experience within the natural and built environment.
An Architecture of meaning and value may be bound by mundane issues such as budget, schedule and tectonics, but it should transcend those issues. Every project we take on as Architects and Designers belies an inherent sense of optimism that there is an idea worth realizing. Our daily efforts to bring this about should reflect a sense of reverence toward that goal. We must strive daily to bring a disciplined and informed intellect to bear upon each Architectural event we preside over and, in so doing, inspire others to follow suit.
CRAIG D. WINGFIELD, a licensed architect for over thirty-five years, has designed a wide variety of commercial, residential, and institutional projects and has led many different teams to complete those projects. With these projects he intends to improve the built environment and the living experiences of the homes’ new owners.
